New York State Republican Party Chairman Ed Cox was unanimously re-elected to his fifth two-year term.
New York Republican Chairman Ed Cox was unanimously reelected to his fifth two-year term in Albany Tuesday at the State GOP’s biennial reorganization meeting. The party also elected a full slate of officeholders, including Alexandra Nigolian as secretary and Michael Bittel as treasurer.
County chairs and committee members traveled from across the state to participate in the meeting that also attracted several potential 2018 statewide candidates.
Cox discussed his vision for the next two election cycles and the importance of the local 2017 elections, which he said gives Republicans momentum heading into next year’s statewide, congressional and legislative contests.
“We are the ‘Grand Opportunity Party’ and the strategy we are executing over the course of the next 14 months will allow us to elect Republicans all down the ballot and put New York back on the right track,” Cox said. “After 12 years of Democratic mismanagement, it’s time for a change.”
Alexandra Nigolian was unanimously elected to the position of Secretary. Nigolian has played a key role in growing the Manhattan GOP over the last several years and has roots in upstate New York and Long Island. She will serve a two-year term.
Michael Bittel was elected as the committee’s treasurer. He is a business executive from upstate New York and served as Washington County Republican chairman. He will serve a two-year term.
