Food service operations in the Empire State Plaza center food court will cease this summer while renovations take place.
The Office of General Services (OGS) announced that starting June 28, food vendors will relocate to the south concourse until work is completed.
Most of the renovation work will be done by OGS staff. The food court will get a new ceiling, new floors, energy-efficient lighting, and new tables and chairs.
“The renovations to the Plaza food court will complement the great mix of good service options that were recently introduced here,” said Office of General Services Commissioner RoAnn Destito, “The thousands of people who visit and work at the Capitol and Empire State Plaza deserve quality food in a positive atmosphere, and the renovations that are about to start will create a space where people can meet for business or socially while enjoying their meal.”
McDonald’s and Au Bon Pain will stay at their current locations while Kuma Ani Express, The Dutch Pot, and Bomber’s Burrito Bar will be relocated to the main concourse and will continue serving food.
Pho Yum, pbd Kitchen, and Honest Weight Food Co-op Cafe will reopen in the food court after the renovations are completed.
There is also a new a la Mode frozen yogurt and waffle store opening this summer on the Empire State Plaza Concourse near the Red Cross donation center.
The renovations are scheduled to be completed in the early fall.
