October 2, 2021 – Albany, NY – Governor Kathy Hochul speaks during a women’s rally for reproductive rights at the State Capitol. Twenty county chairs across New York announced their endorsement for Gov. Hochul in next year’s gubernatorial election.
Following an endorsement from state Democratic Committee Chair Jay Jacobs, 20 county chairs across New York announced their endorsement for Gov. Kathy Hochul in next year’s gubernatorial election.
Attempting to keep the Democratic Party together for the 2022 elections, Jacobs announced his endorsement ahead of the primaries, before any other potential candidate has officially announced their run for governor.
Potential opponents for the 2022 election include Attorney General Letitia James, New York Mayor and 2020 Presidential candidate Bill de Blasio, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, and even Andrew Cuomo, who — because of his resignation — is eligible to run for governor again.
Attempting to make the best of a Democratic majority in the State Senate and Assembly, New York Democrats have been announcing their support for Gov. Hochul before the primary season to dissuade other potential candidates from running.

Democratic County Committee Chair members in the north country who signed this endorsement are Lynne Boecher, the Democratic chair for Warren County; Alan Stern, chair for Washington County; Maragaret Bartley, the Essex County chair; Kathy Fleury, of Franklin County; Mark Bellardini, the St. Lawrence County chair; Corey DeCillis, the chair of Jefferson County; Jerry Marking, of Clinton County; Ed Jasewicz, chair for Fulton County; Lou Burke, Democratic chair for Hamilton County; Arlene Feldmeier, the Herkimer County chair.
Additionally, Democratic County Committee chair members from the Southern Tier and Central New York regions endorsed Hochul, praising how, “…when Kathy makes a promise, she keeps it,” these members signed as part of their endorsement. “Governor Hochul has proven during her entire time in office that she is the woman for the job, and we urge Democratic voters from every part of the state to support her too.”
These chairs are: Mike McCormick, of Allegany County; Barbara Fiala from Broome County; Norm Green, of Chautauqua County; Tim Perfetti, chair for Cortland County; Mitch Ford, of Oneida County; Carolyn Elkins, chair for Schuyler County; Shawn Hogan, of Steuben County; Jim Gustafson, the Tompkins County chair; and Rich Stewart and Val Brechko, co-chairs for Yates County.
