The Legislative Gazette is one of the country’s top college statehouse programs with a physical newsroom staffed by students and faculty adjacent to New York State’s Capitol in Albany, NY.
We invite not only Journalism interns but also students from other majors.
For example: English students can help with writing and editing. Political Science/Pre-Law and similar majors can see how politics and government work firsthand, Fine Arts/Graphic Design/Communications/Business students can help with our marketing, social media and audio/video/print production — and other majors are welcomed, too! Tell us what you have to offer!
Interns report on site and cover Albany’s movers and shakers in real time in an exciting environment. It’s an unparalleled immersive experience. See our video!
- SUNY New Paltz students can register directly each semester for 1-12 credits.
- Other SUNY students can register through their department’s internship option each semester; ask us to reach out for you.
- We can also work with private colleges to help get you internship credit.
- We also may accept “freelance” student-submitted journalism that has statewide appeal; send us a pitch!
